Our team is looking for a talented individual to assist with our digital media and external outreach needs. This is an unpaid internship for the duration of one semester or until the assigned projects are complete. Minimum requirement is 10 hours/week.

Digital Media Duties:

Work closely with the Communications & Development Associate to:

  • Archive existing media content using a pre-determined structure
  • Implement a keyword/tagging project on all digital content using software such as Adobe Lightroom
  • Peruse digital media collections (e.g. photos and videos) and categorize by quality
  • Make digital content more easily accessible to our online supporters via channels such as Flickr
  • Track social media and website traffic
  • Provide input and feedback into existing social media strategy

External Outreach Duties:

Work closely with the Communications & Development Associate to:

  • Plan small, local fundraisers, including preparation, execution and follow-up
  • Conduct research of potential supporters using a pre-determined method
  • Identify new and solidify preexisting relationships with event venues in the DC area

Requirements:

  • Ability to commute to DC office for a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Ability to occassionally attend off-site meetings and networking opportunities
  • Experience with the Mac/Apple Operating System
  • General knowledge of and interaction with digital media, social media and web development. Full knowledge of Adobe software and other editing tools is NOT required.
  • Have completed at least two years of college course work, with perference for majors in Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Appropriate candidates will be fast learners, detail-oriented, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Interest in Haiti and international development
  • Experience with Adobe software, web design and/or development
  • Experience with event planning and/or fundraising
