160 Families Begin Their Journey to Escape Extreme Poverty
The journey out of extreme poverty has begun for 160 families on Lagonav Island -- thanks to sponsors in Beyond Borders' Family Graduation Program. This past November work began with these families who make up the sixth and largest-ever cohort. Over the next 24 months these families will work extremely hard to begin earning money and start a savings account; to bring home any children they've sent away and to keep all their children healthy, fed, and in school; and, to repair or build a new home and sanitary latrine. Their journey will be challenging. They will likely face unforeseen trials. Through it all, our generous family sponsors will give these families the opportunity, the encouragement, and the support they'll need to overcome any obstacles and to lift themselves and their children out of extreme poverty. We are grateful for the extraordinary solidarity of family sponsors during this difficult time in Haiti, and all our family sponsors who, since 2016, have empowered nearly 600 families to escape extreme poverty for good. As this cohort launches, families sponsors have received an introductory email with photos and details about their sponsored family. There are families who still need a sponsor! Call, text (305-450-2561) or email Brian Stevens if you'd like to sponsor one of these families. Sponsorship is $100/month for the 24 months of the program, through graduation. Thank you again to our family sponsors for standing in solidarity with these families and for making their journey out of extreme poverty possible.
